Okay, so I don’t know if I’m quoting the bible exactly, but even God himself (or “herself,” depending upon your belief system) recognized the importance of having at least ONE day of the week off.
And so it is that, for most countries around the world, that day is Sunday. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!
And how great is it to have a day of the week that is universally recognized as a day to sit back, relax, and recharge? Think about it: you work Monday through Friday at a job you either hate or like but is still hard to do, then you use Saturday as either a party day or a “running errands I didn’t get to finish up during the week” day.
But then, Sunday arrives. Aside from those 2 or 3 hours many people take to go worship at the church/synagogue/temple of their choosing, the rest of the day is usually spent lying around the house, spending time with family, and being fairly mellow, maxing and relaxing until the very next day when the work cycle starts all over again.
Ah, Sunday… now THAT’S something to be thankful for!
Oh yeah – I’m typing this on a Saturday because Sunday is a day of rest from this column as well. See ya on Monday!
