Sometimes it just feels good to have a good cry.
Sometimes, though, it can be hard to get it out, especially if everything in your world is going pretty good. How, then, does one get themselves in the mood to cry?
Answer: WATCHING MOVIES THAT MAKE YOU CRY, THAT’S HOW!
This will vary from person to person and gender to gender, but most people have at least ONE movie that will get them feeling misty-eyed.
Recently, I saw “Toy Story 3.” In reading reviews of the movie, I had heard that the last 10 minutes of it had many audience members crying it. I was pondering how this was possible since (a) it was a cartoon movie and (b) it was supposed to primarily be a comedy.
Lo and behold: when it got down to the last 10 minutes (which I won’t spoil here for those who haven’t seen it yet), certain actions and events happened on screen that caused me to go from choking up a bit, to getting watery-eyed, to full-out crying, going so far as to actually make a few sniffling and coughing noises.
And, while it’s not usually considered manly to be crying, it felt quite good. Because sometimes – just sometimes – men as well as women need to cry, and it’s nice to have a stimulus out there that makes it possible.
Ah, movies that make you cry… now THAT’S something to be thankful for!
